Expanding course portfolio

NYD has recently decided to add two new courses to their portfolio.

This autumn we will offer courses in search and rescue diving and underwater welding.

- We have years of experience in training rescue divers for Norwegian fire departments. What is new is that we now give licensed commercial divers the opportunity to qualify for a search and rescue certificate (class R). To qualify the divers need to attend a two week course at NYD, says chief instructor at NYD, Lars Kristiansen.

With the class R certificate divers may apply for work as search and rescue divers in e.g the fire department.

The first course will be held early August 2014.

Welding under water
In the regular commercial diving course NYD has for a number of years given the students an introduction to underwater welding. After having been contacted by a number of students and companies the school has decided to hold the first specialist course in wet welding in November 2014.

During two intense weeks students receive training in dry and wet welding, and after having passed a written and practical exam they are issued a certificate of competence according to BS EN ISO 15618-1 and AWS D3.6M-10.

The course will only admit 8 students and will begin in early November 2014. Price will be 35.000 NOK.

- We are constantly looking to improve and develop our school, and these new courses contributes to this, says Lars William Wroldsen, managing director of NYD and NYD Kompetanse.
